History of FCE(T) Gusau

The College was established via the Federal Government of Nigeria decree No. 4 of March, 1986, later, amended by decree No. 6 of January, 1993 exclusively for female students.

 

It was in November, 1989 that administrative activities were started by the first Provost Hajiya Rabi Aliyu Tambuwal and very few junior staff at the former Gusau Teachers College as the College temporary site provided by the then Sokoto State Government. With the assistance of the Federal Ministry of Education through a Task Force, staff were recruited and academic activities took up in May, 1990. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) provided the seventeen pioneering students in Business Education. From the start, only Business and Technical courses were offered. By 1991/1992 session, one hundred and twenty seven (127) students were enrolled in the College with twenty seven academic and administrative staff. The College graduated its first set of graduands in 1992. Since then, the College has continued to grow steadily in both staff and students’ strength. Currently, the students’ population is 4317.

 

Mission

The college will train and graduate competent female technology teachers in the Basic Education Level, and potential entrepreneurs.

 

Vision

To be a world class College  with the required facilities for training female students in moral character, academic knowledge and practical skills to become effective and efficient teachers of technical subjects and potential entrepreneurs.
